Jan 31, 2012. This Is The End

It's this winter's biggest snow so far and I had to go out for a walk with a friend. However the best view was from the dormitory's study room where white ashes fell over an urban apocalyptic scene.
Just in time to end January's Gallery!

Jan 30, 2012. This City.

Some photos can be enhanced by my words, but...
I want this one to speak on its own.

Jan 29, 2012. Fishtank Neighbors

Have you ever stared into your neighbors window curiously, as if they were a mysterious pet creature in their little cage where, if you're lucky, you'll be able to see them like when the tiger leaves his cave in the zoo. Only able to stare from far away makes them seem small and, like a fish in a tank they are sealed away from your world. If you look at different times of the day you will see them doing different things, like laying in bed listening to music or running in their exercise wheel, attending guests or gnawing their teeth on a hard edge. And when they're not there, it's like a fishbowl with only water which you didn't know what to do with after the fish died, lying there without purpose in the room.
Or you may just think it's your neighbors...

Jan 27, 2012. Call It What You Want

Complete with matching hand warmers, I can actually go by seeing 1 or 2 of these every day. If I saw one in Guatemala, it would be a novelty. The owner would probably even have cult fame, known as the guy with the pink moped. Guy, you say... why not a girl? Well, because I'm pretty sure the owner of this bike is a guy, since each one of these pink marvels I've seen so far was being driven by one, ranging from skinny jean-pretty boys to the hard-skinned manly man. Doesn't get any more hardcore biker than this!

Jan 26, 2012. Old Friends

I took off in the night today, walking in circles not knowing what I would find in the lack of light, when I started peering in through glass doors. In a simple little noodle restaurant , these two old men drank and conversed, and you could tell from their expressions that changed quickly from hard to soft, that they knew each other well to the point that they could hold two different conversations at the same time. One with words, the other masks, but both stories would be wound in their familiar minds into one.

Jan 25, 2012. Energy Inefficient.

I walked outside today expecting to come back in with photos of last night's snow. Instead, I came with a photo of the university's hospital, hot and steamy in the cold air. The back-lit steam just intrigued me, as it vanished few feet away from its source. Today, I go with a minimalistic  photo.

Jan 24, 2012. When Life Sucks

If you've ever worked in an office, then you can relate to this man. Sitting in an uninspiring room surrounded by uninspiring things having to do uninspiring work, and you'd wish that clock would tick just a little bit faster.
Struggling to stay awake, the man didn't notice me. But I understood him...

Jan 23, 2012. Majesty.

Traditional Asian architecture is beautiful. The luxury and complexity might seem absurd, but it's art. I ventured out today to see if I could find any special events commemorating the Lunar New Year but came up with nothing. Not to worry though, I still like the photo I got. This gate from old Korea is always a wonder to observe, combined with modern day artificial lighting creating a sight even the people back then couldn't enjoy!

Jan 22, 2012. Fun With Friends

So I decided to go with something more lighthearted today. After all of the dramatic photos I've tried to take these days, it's nice to think of a warmer theme, like the stupid things we do with friends. You don't need alcohol to get rid of your useless shame, just some good company to get your spirits up!
